Watch Us Grow!
The Emelita Gardening program has been designed to be a hands-on, minds-on experience for all grade levels. Its involvement is geared to enhance learning by integrating science, social studies, and life skills in everyday classroom lessons. Through planting, maintaining, and observing the crops students are able to take part in endless possibilities through hands-on observational learning.
Our gardening program goes hand in hand with the California Science Foss Kit curriculum. Students plant various types of seeds and observe, record, and discuss the outcomes. By having our own garden students are able to enhance their mathematics and science skills through hands-on, minds-on experiences.
Our garden contains many crops such as pumpkins, onions, oranges, lettuce, spinach, and potatoes. Not only does the garden beautify our school campus but students also take pride in maintaining and observing the crops and plants!
Through fundraisers, school beautification day, and countless donations we are able to continue our gardening program. Thank you to our wonderful PTA parents who have contributed their time, materials, and donations to support the growth of our plants and minds here at Emelita!
